Microsoft worker posts bail in Internet case

TACOMA – A Microsoft worker has posted $20,000 bail after authorities charged him with arranging a sexual encounter with a person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.

Karun Kandoi, 27, pleaded not guilty Friday in Pierce County Superior Court to a charge of attempted first-degree child rape. He was released after posting bail.

Police say Kandoi used online chat rooms to set up a rendezvous with the “girl,” who actually was a Tacoma police detective.

The Internet sting began last month, and detectives think Kandoi used his computer at work for some of the conversations.
