Trump says he was ‘sticking up’ for ‘low IQ’ Biden, not insulting him like Kim

When it comes to him siding with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un — and his description of Joe Biden as having a “low IQ” — President Trump says the former veep has got it all wrong.

“I was actually sticking up for Sleepy Joe Biden while on foreign soil,” Trump said in a tweet early Tuesday night. “Kim Jong Un called him a ‘low IQ idiot,’ and many other things, whereas I related the quote of Chairman Kim as a much softer ‘low IQ individual.’ Who could possibly be upset with that?”

The comments came just hours after Biden’s campaign blasted Trump for siding with “a murderous dictator” while he was in Japan on Memorial Day. The president had agreed during a press conference with Kim’s reported “low IQ” assessment of the 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful.

“Kim Jong Un made a statement that Joe Biden is a low-IQ individual. He probably is, based on his record,” Trump told reporters. “I think I agree with him on that.”

Biden’s camp said the evaluation “speaks for itself.”

“It’s part of a pattern of embracing autocrats at the expense of our institutions,” they charged. “Whether taking Putin’s word at face value in Helsinki or exchanging ‘love letters’ with Kim Jong Un.”
